January 23rd, 2006 at 8:48 am
This is important! My son has been a victim as have several of his friends. The impact hs been long lasting. I pray it will stop with this generation.
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:18 am
I am personally and enthusiastically supporting the Resolution encouraging school boards to adopt an Anti-bullying policy. While I understand this is not a bill this is a step in sad but badly needed direction. It’s important that our children feel safe in their classrooms and on their playgrounds.
Please join me in calling your Senate and House Representatives to support this resolution. If you are unsure of who your Representatives are please visit the Salt Lake County Clerks web site http://www.clerk.slco.org/elections/index.cfm

January 23rd, 2006 at 4:13 pm
I strongly support a bill that ends or monitors or provides consequences for bullying.
January 23rd, 2006 at 4:19 pm
This is the first step in several important steps that need to be taken to ensure safe school environments for all who attend our schools.
January 23rd, 2006 at 4:53 pm
This issue terrorizes our Nation. Strong vs. not. If we can catch it in pre-school we have a chance.
January 23rd, 2006 at 5:04 pm
I fully support this. I was myself a victim of bullying during my high school years. Bullying is a problem that transcends borders. The worst effect of this kind of behavior is not only a physical harm, but also an emotional one. The fear, pain, and embarrassment never goes away.
January 23rd, 2006 at 5:09 pm
At the University of Utah, we are currently working with a school district/school to pilot a bully-prevention curriculum. We have been amazed at the interest and concern from parents and teachers, who really want to have schools focus on this issue. Many schools in Utah are independently addressing this issue and our State Office of Education has also sponsored training. The resolution would encourage additional important support.
January 23rd, 2006 at 5:29 pm
I support this resolution. Please offer your support to this important legislation.
January 23rd, 2006 at 5:43 pm
I definetly support this resolution!
January 23rd, 2006 at 7:06 pm
I wholeheartedly support this bill. I, I am sad to say, was in a clique in high school who behaved as bullys to some of the lower classmen. When I got to colledge, the roles were reversed. We should do all that we can to stop the behavior in schools. I strongly believe this type of behavior boarders on hate crimes and if allowed to continue, will escalate into more agressive behavior.
January 23rd, 2006 at 7:20 pm
Bullying is something that we endorse everytime we pay to watch movies in the theater, or rent or buy videos or video games that revel in victimizing/violent behavior. Where do we put our money, our time? It’s time society takes a stand on this important issue.
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:28 pm
Much praise is due to Senator Arent for sponsoring this much needed legislation!
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:34 pm
As a participant in the process of creating this resolution my support is obvious. As an advocate for bullied children I see this as a crucial first step. ADD MY NAME TO THE LIST OF SUPPORTERS. And to everyone….put your ear to the ground…that rumbling you hear is a movement to make safe schools…happy schools…and children who excel free from a bully’s wrath.
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:36 pm
My son was bullied in school and as his parent I felt powerless to help. I ask that everyone get on board and support this resolution. Our children deserve to know that their aggressors will be directed to a higher way of behaving facilitating healing in our school’s hallways.
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:37 pm
PASS THIS PASS THIS PASS THIS. Your children and your children’s children will thank you.
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:38 pm
I remember kids calling me every name in the book. I’m glad to see this resolution. If it had been in place during my school years, I would have felt empowered during my victimization.
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:39 pm
My son is the victim of a school bully. My brother was too. It is high time we endorse ANY effort to protect our children. This one is key!
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:39 pm
Count me in!
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:41 pm
I will vote for ANYONE who supports this resolution. Repeatedly. Support this and I’ll know you support young people.
January 23rd, 2006 at 10:26 pm
This would become another of our effective weapons against criminally aggressive behavior.
January 24th, 2006 at 6:52 am
My son’s self esteem is being damaged by a bully in school and there is not need for him to have to “tough it out” or endure. It’s not his fault nor his burden that another child is so lacking in self confidence that he has to pick on other to feel good about himself. We should teach our children Peace and this bill is a start.
January 24th, 2006 at 8:54 am
I stronglyh support anti-bullying legislation. It is very important to child health and welfare.
January 24th, 2006 at 9:13 am
Please support this for all kids. I want my kids and all kids to feel safe and secure going to school
January 24th, 2006 at 9:34 am
I support this resolution. School should be a warm and nurturing environment. All children should have the right to feel safe and secure.
January 24th, 2006 at 9:38 am
This is something LONG overdue!
January 24th, 2006 at 9:39 am
I have trouble with the schools with over population and high bully rates , it seems that the more stuedents the less teacher attention and the more bullying goes on ! This makes children who at one time loved to learn fear going to school and fear learning ! Please put an end to the BULLY !
January 24th, 2006 at 10:07 am
This needs to happen.
January 24th, 2006 at 10:20 am
I strongly support this resolution. All children have the right to feel safe when they are at school. Let’s help put an end to the bully!
January 24th, 2006 at 10:24 am
I support anti-bullying legislation.
January 24th, 2006 at 10:52 am
I feel that bullying in schools is a significant problems that needs to be addressed.
January 24th, 2006 at 11:00 am
I am completely in favor of this resolution. It would be better if there could be laws against such behavior. Maybe we wouldn’t have as many screwed up adults . . . the child in us is always there!
January 24th, 2006 at 11:00 am
I was a victim of bullying when I was younger, and currently I see how it is effecting my niece and it makes me sad nothing has been done as of yet. I am all for this resolution.
January 24th, 2006 at 11:02 am
As a school psychologist, a parent, and a grandparent, I heartily endorse this proposal. Bullying is a pernicious influence on the school environment. It damages children. There are research-based interventions proven to work to eliminate bullying from schools if they are consistently applied. The positive effects of this effort would improve the school environment for all children and adults who work in them, and have the effect of raising achievement and positive mental health for all.
January 24th, 2006 at 11:03 am
I wholeheartedly support this resolution to stop bullying in school environments.
I agree that students need every opportunity to learn as much as they can in school, protected from the hurt and distraction from those who choose to intimidate others.
I urge the Utah Legislature to pass this resolution into an enforcable law this session.
Sincerely,
Janice Eberhardt
January 24th, 2006 at 11:08 am
As a graduate student at Utah State University, my thesis deals with bullying and I know research supports the use of bully interventions for our students. Also, as a school psychologist intern, I can see, firsthand, the prevalance and harmful effects of bullying. I support this resolution.
January 24th, 2006 at 11:20 am
Unless we learn from Columbine and other incidents, we may soon experience this same kind of disaster in our communities.
Let’s get serious about stopping bullying. It’s not funny unless everyone is laughing!!!
January 24th, 2006 at 11:22 am
We need to ensure our children’s safety in school so their focus can be on learning
January 24th, 2006 at 11:37 am
I was abused by bullies when I was a child, and now I have nieces and nephews in school and I pray that that doesn’t happen to them either. Children should feel safe in school, they should have a peaceful and exciting atmosphere to learn in. And children that are abusive and tyrannical over others need to be dealt with appropriately so that not everyone has to suffer. Work with thier parents, counselors, etc. get them the help they need.
January 24th, 2006 at 12:01 pm
I strongly support this resolution
January 24th, 2006 at 12:25 pm
I’m the director of Related Services in a local school district and my psychologists spend way too much time writing behavior plans that don’t adequately address bullying behaviors, because some parents are in denial about their children. There are too many students getting away with bullying, and when we identify the bullies and/or the behaviors, the penalties are stiff enough to inhibit the students/behaviors from continuing. Adults have a responsibility to watch out for and care for children, and that includes parents, and also legislators. lv
January 24th, 2006 at 12:28 pm
Bullying runs rampant in our schools here in Cache Valley, my daughter has developed an ulcer from the stress she recieves in school. She isn’t even one of the bullied children. It is pitiful to see a child teased because of the clothes they do or don’t have as well as being any kinf=d of different. My daughter is one of the lucky ones that has good friends, it is just the outside stress from other kids. It need to stop and the schools can’t or won’t put any effort into the problem. Something about childrens rights, what about the rights of the bullied children, what happens to them and their rights. We need something done about this situation. NOW
January 24th, 2006 at 12:33 pm
I agree that students should feel safe and encouraged to be themself while attending the public schools. I have worked with many children that feel alienated and sad because they just don’t know how to “not be a target”. It is frustrating to me that these students live with these feelings day in and day out, and that the real change that needs to take place is within the school as a whole.
January 24th, 2006 at 1:27 pm
I unequivocally support this anti-bullying resolution.
January 24th, 2006 at 1:28 pm
I strongly support this resolution! It is about time!!!
January 24th, 2006 at 2:09 pm
I support the anti-bullying legislation. This is a huge problem in our schools and it need to be addressed. Thanks for your committment to our children!
January 24th, 2006 at 2:46 pm
Yes, to the anti-bullying bill!
January 24th, 2006 at 2:51 pm
Send this weblink to a ‘grown-up’ bully that you know who may be raising little bullies of his own. Ask this bully to first, acknowledge their bullying behavior, and then second, to try and think about learning different that they can feel more secure about themselves and to try to undo harming of their children and to begin to teach their children to be more accepting and loving towards their peers. Children learn to be bullies. Thanks for your commitment to this important cause!
January 24th, 2006 at 3:52 pm
Show your support and make a difference
January 24th, 2006 at 4:12 pm
I support the anti bully legislation. Bulling is a problem in Utah and it must be stopped. This is a good step in the right direction.
January 24th, 2006 at 4:49 pm
I am strongly in favor of this resolution and any laws or resolutions that will help solve the problem of bullying in schools.
January 24th, 2006 at 4:51 pm
I totally support this bill. It is LONG overdue!
Having children who were in the school system and now have grandchildren who are, have had to deal with it WAY too long . It is about time something is done about it . It must be stopped .
January 24th, 2006 at 5:01 pm
My son is a beautiful boy who is constantly bullied by older children because of his size. He is 8 but is the size of an average 12 year old. His grades have declined and he rarely wants to go to school. This truly breaks my heart. My son stands up for other kids and only wants to be everyone’s friend. I support this bill because children and parents need to be accountable for negative behavior that hurts others.
January 24th, 2006 at 5:14 pm
My siblings and I were bullied as children because we didn’t fit in. My children were bullied, too. Despite all the pain those childhood experiences caused, my deepest concern is for those who continue to be bullies their whole lives. As adults, they create misery that becomes VERY EXPENSIVE for the state in terms of correctional costs, assistance programs and limited productivity. It’s so much cheaper to prevent these costs than to pay them later.
January 24th, 2006 at 5:26 pm
I strongly support the anti bully legislation. Its about time something is done.
January 24th, 2006 at 5:55 pm
I strongly support the anti bully legislation! I myself was bullied growing up, and i have also been a bully which stemmed from my own insecurities from being teased myself. Now that i am older and i watch my own neices and nephews going through the same thing i went through, it truly upsets me to see that through all the progress we have made as a nation that bullying continues to grow worse and worse as the years go by. Something needs to be done soon! I think the consequences for bullying need to be handled the same as drug and alcohol abuse in schools! It is long overdue for something to be done!
January 24th, 2006 at 6:13 pm
I personally am strongly in support of efforts to reduce and hopefully at some point to almost eradicate bullying in the schools and other places. The bully needs help to find better forms of behavior. The bullied need to feel support that can prevent him from being victimized. I’m glad to hear of this resolution.
January 24th, 2006 at 6:24 pm
Bullying in schools is an abomination! If this were adult-to-adult, this matter would have been already settled. We need to value our kids!!! My son was the victim of a teacher bullying him and it leaves terrible emotional scars.
January 24th, 2006 at 6:35 pm
I fully support the anti-bullying resolutiion.
January 24th, 2006 at 7:16 pm
Our schools should be safe places for all who attend. There is no place for bullying among children. I support this resolution whole-heartedly!
January 24th, 2006 at 7:27 pm
I support this resolution. I also strongly support adding a statement to the effect that harassment due to sexual orientation constitutes bullying.
January 24th, 2006 at 8:31 pm
I strongly support this resolution.
January 24th, 2006 at 8:37 pm
I support this resolution concerning bullying in the schools.
January 24th, 2006 at 8:38 pm
i support this resoultion because our children deserve to feel safe where ever they may be, especially in our schools. Its time we set the example and let our children know that we can make a difference and that we are willing to stand up agaisnt bullying. It is the right thing to do.
January 24th, 2006 at 9:59 pm
Bullying is a complicated problem that has rippling effects into the lives of the victims as well as the bullies who learn to get away with such antisocial behavior. I would support bully-proofing schools and would suggest teaching all children, bullies or victims, anger management as a component. This should be built in as part of our school curriculum.
January 24th, 2006 at 11:06 pm
I am hopeful that this legislation will stop bullying in all schools involving children and this action will carry over into the lives of us adults. We need to have this same mentality to stop bullying in all aspects of life so as to promote world peace and stop all atrocities of bullying.
January 24th, 2006 at 11:23 pm
As Presidentof the Secondary Schools PTA Council for the Salt Lake District, I urge legislators to address bullying in our schools
Senator Arent’s bill does this. Children learn best in an environment where they feel safe and secure.
January 25th, 2006 at 2:00 am
Utahns can support legislation supporting anti-cruelty to animals. Why cannot the legislature support this legislation.
January 25th, 2006 at 7:32 am
I fully support the bully bill!
January 25th, 2006 at 7:35 am
I fully support this bill! It is good to see this issue addressed in such a public arena. This bill will promote more awareness and understanding, which ultimately will lead to positive change in our childrens’ public education.
January 25th, 2006 at 8:14 am
Bullying should never be tolerated. It will take commitment by individuals in every school to make this happen. I fully support this resolution.
January 25th, 2006 at 8:51 am
I support this bill. Children and teachers should not have to put up with bullies in school.
January 25th, 2006 at 9:25 am
I believe that education in the schools regarding “bullying” is imperative. Teaching self respect and respect for others is important, for both the Students and the Teachers.
January 25th, 2006 at 9:29 am
Most of us know of bullying and understand its bad effects. I support this bill and similar, intelligent policies.
January 25th, 2006 at 9:45 am
Respect for self and other is such an important concept for all of us to learn. Let’s start with the very young children.
January 25th, 2006 at 9:54 am
Passing this bill will produce very positive results at very low cost - both politically and economically. Just do it!
January 25th, 2006 at 9:55 am
This is a very worthwhile endeavor. We must act with determination to eliminate bullying from schools in a manner which is educational, nurturing, and kind for all involved parties.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:01 am
Bullying hurts both the bully and the victims. Any efforts to help children develop better relationships and ways of coping with challenges can only make the future brighter for ALL kids.
Childhood bullies grow up to be adult bullies.
Look around. You can see them everywhere.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:12 am
I support the bullying resolution.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:13 am
Bullying at school should not be a part of growing up - it’s not “kids just being kids.” Eliminating the tolerance for bullying not only helps our children, now and in the future, but helps our teachers, our schools and our communities. Children who bully on the playground bully off the playground. I want my children to respect others and in return expect the same.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:16 am
Every child deserves a safe school environment. This is the type of common sense legislation that support our public schools. I fully support this bill.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:22 am
Thanks for taking action. We’ve tried, but need some teeth in our efforts.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:23 am
Being in education, I am fully aware of what happens within the school setting. I am in full support of this bill and limiting what bullies can and can’t do within a school setting. No bullying, fighting or harrassment, of any sort, should occur within the confines of the school.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:29 am
I totally support suport this bill, I have seen first hand the bullying that goes on in schools and what it does to a student’ ability to learn. It is crucial to our schools that bullying be eliminated. I urge everyone to support this bill!
January 25th, 2006 at 10:30 am
Any and all efforts to end bullying in schools is necessary so that students, male and female, can feel they are in a safe environment. When bullying is recognized and eliminated instead of ignored and tolerated, school becomes a more positive learning environment. Funding to educate others about bullying and how to stop it in schools and elsewhere is critically needed throughout Utah, starting in elementary schools. I agree with the common sense legislation comment and wholeheartedly support anti-bullying efforts.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:31 am
As an elementary teacher … I am in strong support of anti-bullying programs being put into the public school curriculum.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:39 am
I will do anything that I can to support this bill and to implement it each day. This problem is pervasive in our society and it is often an issue at school.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:41 am
As a Jr. high teacher, I have seen bullying affect students drastically. It destroys self-confidence, makes students fell unsafe, and prevents effective teaching and learning.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:42 am
As a parent, I fully support this bill. All children should be safe and feel safe - especially at school.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:02 am
My daughter hs experienced bullying at school and it makes her nervous at lunch time and at school field trips. The bullying breaks down the sence of community at her school and trouble kids so they cannot concentrate.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:04 am
Add my name to the list of supporters for this bill. Our children and grandchildren need to feel safe in school.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:13 am
Our family does support and will work hard to provide a safe enviroment for our kids at school. Please add our support.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:29 am
It is our duty to make sure that children have the best opportunity to receive a top rate education. Being safe at school should not be an option, but a right.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:31 am
Thank you! I fully support this resolution. Bullying at school should never be a part of growing up. All children deserve to feel safe at school.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:47 am
I, as all people of good conscience should, support this resolution. Ethically it is our duty as ‘grown ups’ to provide our children with an environment shrouded in safety on all levels.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:54 am
As a parent and health researcher, I am firmly convinced that bullying is a behavior that can be unlearned. Bullying is never acceptable, “kids will be kids” is not the answer. I support this resolution to help provide an environment in our schools that is safe, respectful, and conducive to learning.
January 25th, 2006 at 12:02 pm
I wholeheartedly support this. Bullying is unacceptable and has lifelong consequences for the victims.
January 25th, 2006 at 12:03 pm
I support this bill. The schools are too crowded and our students go get much attention they need in order to learn the right way.
January 25th, 2006 at 12:09 pm
The sad thing is that most school bullies learn that behavior from their parents and caretakers. They are simply reflecting the behavior they most often are on the receiving end of at home.
January 25th, 2006 at 12:32 pm
Thank you for considering such important legislation. If a child does not feel safe at school he or she will not learn or retain like they should. They will face enough challenges in this world without having to deal with bully behavior while they are young. Keep up the good work!
January 25th, 2006 at 12:34 pm
My daughter has been a victim of bullying at school by older kids. I fully support this bill. I think a no tolerance act to be put in place in all schools.
January 25th, 2006 at 12:35 pm
Our children deserve better. A strong bill and resources are needed to make our children feel safe,
January 25th, 2006 at 12:47 pm
I support this bill. I don’t think kids should have to deal with bully’s
January 25th, 2006 at 12:58 pm
I support this bill to ensure that our schools offer a safe environment for learning and growth.
January 25th, 2006 at 1:06 pm
Finally!
January 25th, 2006 at 1:38 pm
I STRONGLY SUPPORT THIS RESOLUTION. I AM A CONSTITUENT OF PATRICE ARENT’S AND AM CONSISTENTLY PLEASED WITH HER THOUGHTFUL EFFORTS AND SUPPORT OF EDUCATION ISSUES. BULLYING IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN OUR SCHOOLS AND MAYBE THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO BEGIN TO FIND SOLUTIONS.
January 25th, 2006 at 1:43 pm
I strongly support this bill. Every child has the right to a safe learning environment.
January 25th, 2006 at 1:45 pm
I support this 100%. Bullying should not be tolerated.
January 25th, 2006 at 1:49 pm

January 25th, 2006 at 2:15 pm
I support the anti-bullying resolution.
January 25th, 2006 at 2:16 pm
I support this 100%. Our children deserve to go to school and feel safe.
January 25th, 2006 at 2:17 pm
NO MORE BULLYING! Even teachers bully kids. This needs to be STOPPED also.
January 25th, 2006 at 2:31 pm
I strongly support this
January 25th, 2006 at 2:31 pm
Please, everyone needs to Support the Anti-Bullying Resolution
January 25th, 2006 at 2:49 pm
I support this bill.
January 25th, 2006 at 3:03 pm
Bulling needs to stop now! You have my support.
January 25th, 2006 at 3:14 pm
This is a fabulous resolution. It’s just sad that it took this long to come about.
January 25th, 2006 at 3:35 pm
I support the Anti-Bullying resolution.
January 25th, 2006 at 4:01 pm
Yes, educate kids about diversity and the blessings of that, and eliminate bullying which is fear-based, so that ALL can be free to find and be who they are.
January 25th, 2006 at 4:06 pm
I think it is very important that we stop the bullying in all schools and situations children are in with children.
January 25th, 2006 at 4:44 pm
This resolution is for the bully as much as the bullied. Helping bullies change their behavior may change their life for the better.
January 25th, 2006 at 5:13 pm
I strongly support this bill! It must pass to help our children feel safe at school. Also to help those who bully refocus and make school a safe, positive learning environment.
January 25th, 2006 at 5:15 pm
I strongly support this resolution. It’s time to stand up for our children.
January 25th, 2006 at 5:18 pm
I support the anti-bullying resolution.
January 25th, 2006 at 5:31 pm
I whole heartedly support this resolution.
January 25th, 2006 at 6:05 pm
As long as bullying is not limited to pushing and other visible acts and includes that hurtful bullying that goes on through gossip and rumors, I am in complete support of this bill. It is about time!
January 25th, 2006 at 6:12 pm
I support the anti-bullying campaign.
January 25th, 2006 at 6:16 pm
I whole heartedly support this this anti-bullying bill. Everyone on this planet has been effected in some way by bullying, this bill will help educate our children in a very positive way.
January 25th, 2006 at 6:18 pm
I have been teaching 5th and 6th grades for twenty years. Ten, eleven, and twelve year old children can be ‘terribly’ cruel. I have a student this year that everyone says is a bully. He is the biggest boy in our class. He’s respectful to me, but as he moves around the class and on the playground, I can see how other kids are intimidated by him. However, I have not had any reports of physical or emotional abuse, it seems to just be his size. I know that bullying can happen discretely and children need to feel safe at school and elsewhere in order to be emotionally strong and successful.
January 25th, 2006 at 6:18 pm
I support this bill.
January 25th, 2006 at 6:24 pm
Contrary to what many people believe, bullying is an adult problem, not a child’s problem. Adults are entirely to blame for bullying in our schools because they do not stop it. Bullies bully because they can, and because they can get away with it and adults decide when, and who will get away with bullying.
Bullying is not a “part of growing up” or even “boys will be boys” problem. Bullying is an adult believing that its “part of growing up” and an adult believing “that boys will be boys”.

“By kindergarten, some children believe they have the right to control the social experience of other children.” Vivian Gussin Paley
January 25th, 2006 at 6:38 pm
I’m in, but it is kind of hard to promote anti-bullying when the country is being run by thugs that are stealing everyones lunch money. Where is Dylan Klebold when you need him?
Reinstitute the BAD ASS vice principal. Things were different when kids were afraid of consequences that involved more restrictive school environments not getting suspended. cheers glenn
January 25th, 2006 at 6:45 pm
I strongly support this. Children need to know that they are protected and that bullying is not tolerated.
January 25th, 2006 at 7:32 pm
Bullying should not be tolerated. We need schools where children feel safe. I support the anti-bullying legislation.
January 25th, 2006 at 7:38 pm
My heart goes out to the many children who do not feel safe in our schools. Students are suffering the devastating consequences of bully behavior and harassment each year; we can’t ignore the problem any longer. Yes, I support this resolution!!!
January 25th, 2006 at 7:42 pm
Bravo. This should be a no-brainer, but I am daily reminded that the obvious is often far too sensible for our political leaders. A personal plea: My darling, beautiful little sister was cruelly taunted, teased, and bullied as a little child - for being chubby, for having a weird name, for being different. In retrospect, her mental illness may have already been manifest, and this only triggered more stress, more self-hatred, more isolation than any grade school child should ever bear. Had adults not blown it off as “kids will be kids” and such, her agonizing life experiences may have been a little less so. She is now 40, somehow still alive, and after decades of therapy and better medication, coming to terms with her experiences and her self-image.
We all must stop justifying personal cruelty and recognize this for the devasting social problem that it is.
For my sister - and for all of us geeks and brainiacs and misfits and gays and writers and artists and punks and shy kids and fat kids and left-handers (my sister and me both) and just plain different folks - and for the sake of the bullies themselves, please, help stop the hate and scorn before more lives are devastated.
January 25th, 2006 at 7:54 pm
I support the anti-bullying legislation. Talking to bullies doesn’t work. Reteaching and stiff consequences are a must.
January 25th, 2006 at 8:00 pm
I wholeheartedly support this bill. Kids need to know there are consequences for bullying. Thank you for making that possible.
January 25th, 2006 at 8:09 pm
When it has been documented that 90% of “school shooters” were bullied, excluded, made fun of and harrassed throughtout their lifetimes, what is there to question? If you have compassion for some poor little elementary kid being bullied with no one to help him or her, and have compassion for the victims and families of school shootings…..how could you oppose this resolution? If we allow kids to bully, then we allow them to grow up to become perpetrators of crimes that were perpetrated on them. How insane is THAT? And then there is the whole additional issue of bullies growing up to be adult bullies at home and in the workplace. I support this resolution, and cannot believe anyone but the bully would oppose. It’s damn time we spoke up!
Carla Kelley, Director
The Human Rights Education Center of Utah
January 25th, 2006 at 8:46 pm
Bullying can lead to suicides and school shootings — it is way past time that we provide help and protection to the kids who get bullied, and correct the bullies.
January 25th, 2006 at 9:07 pm
I support any anti-bullying legislation!
January 25th, 2006 at 9:31 pm
If we don’t look out for our children who will? We surely cannot rely on the school system they are having a hard enough time trying to educate our children. There are three places our children should feel safe at home, at school and at church, I think it is the responsibility of the whole community to educate these children who come from homes where their parents could care less about them so they take it out on the other children around them. Do the parents who don’t care suffer? No it is our children and the teachers and therefore all of us. Without teachers and administrators who feel empowered to make a difference our society will continue on the downspirl that we all fee is coming. Why are we even debating keeping our children safe? Should it really even be a question????????
January 25th, 2006 at 9:46 pm
Yes! we need to keep our children safe and send them to school not to defend but to learn!
January 25th, 2006 at 9:48 pm
This is such an important issue. Being a local PTA President and on the PTA Board for years, I have heard the same frustrations from parents time and again. This is an issue that affects most children in one way or another at school. I applaud the legislators, teachers and administrators who are listening and making anti-bully legislation and education a priority. Together, we CAN make a difference!
January 25th, 2006 at 9:49 pm
I am in total support of this resolution. Kids must be protected at school.
January 25th, 2006 at 10:07 pm
As a pediatrician, I whole-heartedly support this resolution. I am thrilled to see legislators support and recognize the safety of our children. Society and the children can only stand to benefit from this. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SENATOR ARENT!!
January 25th, 2006 at 10:37 pm
I support legislation to address the serious problem of bullying. Our family has been impacted by bullying and I feel it is a very serious problem in our schools and needs to be addressed soon.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:17 pm
I’m very much in support of such a bill against bullying. I’ve been very lucky that my children were not victims, but I have friends whose childrens lives were changed completely. I don’t like everything legislated, but I do feel there is an increasing need to address this issue.
Thank you Senator Arent.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:22 pm
We need to teach the children the social skills on inclusiveness to strengthen our schools and communities.
January 25th, 2006 at 11:23 pm
We support the resolution, too. This is an important issue that can be addressed through carefully crafted legislation.
January 26th, 2006 at 5:29 am
I strongly support anti-bullying legislation that would assist schools to deal with and eliminate the ongoing problem of bullying. Last school year, our school had a student who, in their ability to act out, took the teacher’s whole ability to assist and teach the class as a whole away from the rest of those students because they had to deal with this student’s horrid behavior. He would throw anything he could get his hands on at whoever was closest, or actually destroy items. It then took a teacher away out of his/her classroom to restrain this student along with another adult to accompany him/her as a witness that would hopefully protect both adults from being undully accused of abuse of this particular student. In the classroom, after the teacher instructs, she has to go sit right next to this student in order to get him to work on his assignment. If other students need the teachers assistance, they have to come to the teacher who is “parked” next to this disruptive student. If the teacher was actually moving around the room to assist all students with their questions and offer guidance to their practice, they this challenging student would not complete any work along with acting out to have the teacher’s whole attention drawn to him. It was as if the whole class was being held “hostage” to this one child’s bullying.
Legislation to support programs that would effectively eliminate bullying is greatly needed in Utah’s schools, rural and urban.
January 26th, 2006 at 6:27 am
We support bullying to protect all children and maintain their safe school environment.
January 26th, 2006 at 6:38 am
The Utah legislature has been underacheiving for our students for years. Here is their chance to hit an easy HOME RUN to make an impact on the lives of our schoolchildren. Please vote in support of this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 7:02 am
Please support this legislation. Any measure that encourages inclusiveness and supports a safe school environment for all students is necessary. Bullying needs to be eliminated in Utah schools, and passing this resolution will help.
January 26th, 2006 at 7:04 am
I think this is a very important bill. I had to withdraw my daughters from a school because they were not safe and the principal did not do anything about it. I feel very strongly that our children should be safe in school. Our children depend on us (adults) to protect them it is our responsibility and duty to do so. This would be a very big step in the right direction. Please vote in support of this resolution it is very important for our children.
January 26th, 2006 at 7:10 am
I support your efforts to eliminate bullying in Utah.
January 26th, 2006 at 7:16 am
You have my support.
January 26th, 2006 at 7:26 am
Any legislation that will protect children in our schools has my support. Bullying is not “kids being kids” it is wrong and victims can suffer even into adulthood. Stop Bullying NOW!
January 26th, 2006 at 7:32 am
I’m happy to see the issue being addressed. I hope that parents give this as much support as teachers do. We can teach social skills at school, but if there is no support from home it can be a lost cause. Will legislation affect the problem? I really hope so. You have my support.
January 26th, 2006 at 7:38 am
Bullying is just not acceptable. Every student should be / feel safe at school. When students are worried about their peers, it is extremely hard to concentrate on their learning experience.
Please continue to work towards making Utah Schools a safe place for learning.
January 26th, 2006 at 7:40 am
You have my complete support behind this bill. Any efforts to eliminate bullying in our schools is a step in the right direction.
January 26th, 2006 at 7:52 am
I have had a problem with bullying this year for sure. My sons grades went down, he was not getting is work done and his selfestem was shot. I will fully support this bill. After the problem became under control. His grades went back up and he was back to his normal happy self.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:03 am
Thank you for sending the message of both protection and consequences as well as showing your commitment to a safe learning environment for all Utah children.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:07 am
This is important legislation. Our children need to be taught at an early age to respect others. All children deserve the right to feel safe at school.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:11 am
I support this legislation.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:15 am
This is great legislation you have my support.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:16 am
Thank you for addressing this. I strongly support this legislation. Our children need us to be their advocates.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:17 am
Very important!
January 26th, 2006 at 8:49 am
I don’t know how we CAN’T support this legislation! One of my children has been bullied for several years, and it is excrutiatingly painful for our family.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:54 am
Thank you for addressing this issue of safety and well being of our students. They all have the right to feel safe at school, and hopefully in the community as well. I fully support this issue.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:55 am
School should be a place where you feel safe.
Not only for students, but teachers as well. My kids have had students so disruptive and abusive to teachers and kids alike, that the teachers have virtually no control over the classroom.
This is a sad situation. This type of behavior should not be tolerated in our schools, ever.
The public schools are not a baby-sitting agency
for unruly children.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:56 am
Please support this resolution and thus th education of our children. Students cannot concentrate on academics if they are fearful. A heightened awareness of the issue of bullying will help all as some children do not even realize that their actions and words so negatively affect a classmate. Keep up the good work.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:00 am
Bullying is serious! As a Special education teacher and mother, I would like to see bullying completely eliminated. NO school should have any tolerance for bullies!
Jennifer Baggett
January 26th, 2006 at 9:01 am
I am all for anything that would help eliminate bullying in schools so children have a safe place to learn and parents don’t have to be concerned about their childs safety. Please do all you can to support this bill.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:03 am
I am glad to see this resolution being addressed. I hope that everyone looks at it seriously as it does effect both the self esteem and how a child works in class. I support this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:08 am
This is worthy cause to get behind. Everyone benefits when bullying ends. I support this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:08 am
I support this resolution! Please support our children by eliminating bullying in our schools. Children learn the best in a safe environment. Keep our kids safe!
January 26th, 2006 at 9:09 am
ok
January 26th, 2006 at 9:10 am
You have my complete support!! Something needs to be done to protect our children. Children need to feel safe in school and shouldn’t have to worry about other children harassing them.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:10 am
I support this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:16 am
Wholeheartedly support this worth-while effort for better and safer future of our children!
January 26th, 2006 at 9:18 am
This is a no-brainer.
Pass the Resolution.
Let’s go even further, and affirmatively teach the value of everyone’s individuality. And, let’s teach standing up for the victim of bullying.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:21 am
I strongly support this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:22 am
I am for this legislation. School is for learnng. Our Children should be able to go to school to learn and enjoy the company of other children without worries of being bullied.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:24 am
I fully support this bill.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:32 am
I fully support this bill. I have had a son that was bullied in elemantary and Jr. High School. It breaks my heart to think of what he had to go through because of the unkindness of another student.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:34 am
You have my support for this bill.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:39 am
I am so glad that this important issue is finally being addressed. I’m tired of the excuses from parents, teachers and administrators becuase they don’t have the tools or knowledge of how to get a handle on this issue. Bullying must stop now. It is so damaging and if not addressed at an early age, just continues throughout the bully’s life. How many of us know adults that are just big bullies themselves. These kids need and deserve to know how to deal with frustrations on both sides of the issue. There is power in knowledge. Thank you Sen. Arent for bringing this to the forefront!
January 26th, 2006 at 9:40 am
This is an important bill; please support our children.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:41 am
As a Junior High teacher, it is imperative that that the issue of bullying is on the forefront of every school and in every classroom. Schools need to be safe. Bullying is destructive to one’s soul. Thank you for making a political stand on this issue.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:42 am
I totally support this anti-bullying bill. I am a therapist at Valley Mental Health, working with vulnerable, depressed children who are way too often the targets of bullies, which exacerbates their depressions in many cases to suicidality. I can only do so much to help them become bully-proof, but I experience them making dramatic changes when the bullying is stopped, usually by the efforts of school personnel, particularly teachers and counselors. There are many creative ways bullies can be handled to turn them into kinder, more compassionate people, and punishment does not work.
January 26th, 2006 at 9:54 am
Bullying needs to stop now!
January 26th, 2006 at 10:01 am
I fully support this bill. I was a subject of bullying while I was in school, and now one of my children is having the same problem.
Schoolyard bullying destroys self confidence. With a lack of self confidence, children don’t do as well in school because they start to feel they are dumb and can’t succeed. Please pass this resolutiion.
Julianna Shields
January 26th, 2006 at 10:20 am
For those who are the victims, bullying has long lasting negative effects on that child’s self esteem. Children engaging in bulling behaviors can become aggressive adolescents and adults. There is an emotional toll on both victim and perpetrator of bullying. I fully support this legislation as we need to make a stand to set assertive behavioral standards to protect our children.
January 26th, 2006 at 10:38 am
We also strongly support this bill and cite the previously submitted comments as evidence why we need this bill to make our schools safe for all children. Modifying behavior now at a young age will pay huge dividends to society in the future.
January 26th, 2006 at 10:40 am
I strongly support this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 10:41 am
I support this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 10:45 am
This resolution should help keep my kids safe at school. You have my support.
January 26th, 2006 at 10:56 am
I support this resolution. All kids have the right to learn in a safe environment. By tolerating bullying, we are in effect teaching kids that aggressive behavior is OK. It becomes a lose-lose situation for everyone. Our world needs people who tolerate and appreciate each other’s differences and it is up to the adults in this world to teach kids how to do it.
January 26th, 2006 at 10:59 am
Glad to see this happening. I support the resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 11:05 am
Finally, we have recognition that this problem exits and in many forms. On the campus as well as the internet, etc. It cannot be tolerated! This resolution is a great beginning and I strongly support Senator Arent’s efforts to bring this issue front and center. Bullying is wrong and it must be stopped in our schools. I urge all to support this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 11:43 am
It is nice to see some action taking place on this issue. I definitely support anything we can do to try and get rid of bullying in our schools.
January 26th, 2006 at 11:46 am
I support the anti-bullying resolution and feel that is very important that our children have a safe and comfortable enviroment to learn in, as well as preventing those who feel it is acceptable to bully others and teach alternate ways of getting attention and feeling good about themselves.
January 26th, 2006 at 12:02 pm
I see bullying at school, but not oten. Anytime is too much however. Children can’t learn if they’re afraid. Students who are doing the bullying are not learning either. The entire school experiance can be better for everyone
January 26th, 2006 at 12:16 pm
I support any resolution that promotes safety in school for all children regardless of their differences.
January 26th, 2006 at 12:27 pm
As a society we must help children and youth by creating safe and nuturing environments. We must also reinforce the concept that violence and intimidation are not the way to control situations. Bullying damages both the victim and the perpetrator. We need to act to send the message that bullying is wrong.
January 26th, 2006 at 12:30 pm
I support.
January 26th, 2006 at 12:44 pm
The schools must give a clear message that bullying will not be tolerated.
January 26th, 2006 at 12:44 pm
I support any resolution that promotes safety in our schools, and protects our children from bullying.
January 26th, 2006 at 1:14 pm
I support and appreciate any resolutions that will reduce bullying in the schools. I am in favor of teaching respect and tollerance in the schools and that bullying will not be accepted.
January 26th, 2006 at 1:20 pm
I am the Leg VP for Freedom Elem in Highland and we wholeheartedly support this resolution to better promote safety in our schools.
January 26th, 2006 at 1:22 pm
I am confident that once implemented, the Anti-Bullying Resolution will offer not only short-term but long-term benefits to students, parents, teachers and the like.
I fully support this Resolution!
Eastwood Elementary Co-op parent
January 26th, 2006 at 1:37 pm
I support this legislation.
January 26th, 2006 at 1:40 pm
Its about time! I support this legislation.
January 26th, 2006 at 1:48 pm
I have taken time to walk around outside of Evergreen Jr. High during lunchtime to patrol for bullies. It is very important to me to make sure that our kids feel safe at school..
January 26th, 2006 at 2:07 pm
I definately would love to see that every kid feels safe at school therefore, I completely support this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 2:12 pm
This is important to all of our futures.
January 26th, 2006 at 2:29 pm
I definitely support this resolution! Thank you for taking the first step!
January 26th, 2006 at 2:30 pm
im for it! it takes people to make things happen. please join the effort and sign.
January 26th, 2006 at 3:02 pm
Bullying should not be tolerated on any level.
January 26th, 2006 at 3:26 pm
I wholeheartedly support the anti-bullying bill as a teacher and as a parent. In the junior high school setting, bullying is done but secretly and without consequences. It’s time we face that some of the “nicest” students are really the children that are causing some of the greatest problems. Just because they are quiet and polite to teachers, doesn’t mean that they are the sweetest kids.
January 26th, 2006 at 3:30 pm
I sstrongly support the anti-bullying bill. I am a 5th grade teacher and know that bullying is a problem of varying degree in all Utah schools.
January 26th, 2006 at 3:43 pm
I am a volunteer who works with families who are dealing with Attention Deficit Disorder. I receive many phone calls for help from parents whose child with AD/HD is bullied at school. They are frustrated because so little help is available for their child. Bullying is a problem in Utah Schools.
January 26th, 2006 at 3:46 pm
I completely support this anti-bullying bill, I have seen what can happen when someone gets bullied around at school. It’s about time something gets put into place to stop this…
January 26th, 2006 at 4:03 pm
I am against bullying on any level - especially at school. Let’s stop it now.
January 26th, 2006 at 4:25 pm
In grade school, I woke up with a sick feeling in my stomach everyday because I didn’t want to face the people who tormented me. Rather than focusing on my studies, I worried about the next time I’d be laughed at, called names, or be pushed around in the halls. It’s WAY past time that something be done about bullies in our schools. School shouldn’t be a place where students fear abuse and torment, it should be a safe environment where our youth can keep their minds focused on learning.
January 26th, 2006 at 4:38 pm
I remember being bullied as early as first grade by a neighborhood boy who also attended my school. How I wish the other kids, parents, and school administration would have listened to my pleas for help…I am in complete support of this bill.
Today I have zero tolerance for any type of bullying. No child should live fearful of living.
January 26th, 2006 at 4:49 pm
I totally support the anti-bullying resolution. It is imoportant that we get the message out that bullying is not acceptable on any school campus. Students have a right to a safe education.
January 26th, 2006 at 5:00 pm
Please, please for the sake of our kids do all you can to pass this bill. As parents we work so hard to care and protect our children, but when they are at school it’s no longer in our hards. Please take care of our children when they are in school.
January 26th, 2006 at 5:02 pm
I am strongly in favor of the anti-bullying act. It is long overdue
January 26th, 2006 at 5:15 pm
I fully support this anti-bullying resolution. The benefits would come not only to potential bullies and their victims, but also to potential witnesses, who’d learn to exercise the truly selfless courage of defending bullying victims instead of safely doing nothing.
January 26th, 2006 at 5:28 pm
I completely support the anti-bullying resolution. As a student in elementary school I was bullied. When it continued into my seventh grade year, my parents finally allowed me to switch schools. It completely turned my life around. I don’t know who I would be today if that change had not occurred in my life. I think if parents are aware of what their children are doing and not be so busy, uninvolved, prideful or the type that think “my child wouldn’t do that” we would not have ANY bullying in the schools. So parents need to WAKE UP and be involved as to what’s going on and take appropriate action at home so that this damaging situation doesn’t continue. It’s sad that the schools have to be the ones that are having to take such drastic actions because parents aren’t doing what needs to be done. What happened to good old fashioned manners and respect for other people??
January 26th, 2006 at 5:41 pm
Iam over Red Ribbon and Hope for Tomorrow at Churchill/Wasatch and we are making sure that our students know that we do not tolerate bullying at our schools and we need your help! We have to let the parents and students know we will not permit this to happen at our schools.
January 26th, 2006 at 6:19 pm
I support the anti-bullying resolution. I hope that this measure and other programs currently being instituted in our schools can help our children to gain self esteem, learn to get along better and do better in school. I also hope that such measures can help reduce crime in the future.
January 26th, 2006 at 7:54 pm
I’m a sixth grader and bullying should stop. In my life I have been bullied ocasionally. It makes me feel uncomfortable to be whereever it happened. Please make it stop!
January 26th, 2006 at 8:01 pm
I would love to see this resolution passed. Being very involved at the school I see kids being bullied more and more. All children deserve to feel safe and secure in their learning environment. This is proven to improve learning as well as increasing the child’s self esteem. Please pass this resolution.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:32 pm
Every child has a right to feel safe at school. I support this.
January 26th, 2006 at 8:48 pm
I appreciate the effor tot work on this important problem. As a family Physician, I see daily the impact of controlling/bullying people on their associates, families, children and coworkers. The emotional toil exacted is monumentous. The side effects barely appreciated and studied until now. We all have been in schools and felt the power and fear inspired by the bullying personality. Helping them and helping their victims is critical to reduce their impact and create beter envirionments whether at school, at home, or in the community. I support these current efforts! I am in complete support of this resolution. As a mother of two young children, who are sensitive to both people and environment, I feel that they should be able to learn in an environment free of fear and worry. I never want to hear that my children, or any other child was coerced into making bad choices out of fear of retribution from another child. Bullying has got to be stopped!

I support this.
The best defense is a good offense.
Safe Schools and Positive Behavior Support reinforces good behavior and reduces bullying.

I support this anti-bullying resolution. I am heavily involved in the school and know this is a big concern of myself and other parents. Students must have a safe environment in order for them to learn. We cannot tolerate bullying in any form. Bullying must stop!!

I support this resolution 100%. It can only help our students, our communities, and our world.
January 27th, 2006 at 8:41 am
My children have been victims of bullying. I will give 100% of my support to anything that will STOP this problem!! We can do it if we all band together! Thank you, Senator Arent!!

I support this resolution to completely remove bullying from schools. As a teacher I want my students to feel safe at school, so that they can be 100 percent focused on learning.

If our principal wants my support for this resolution, then it has my vote. Anything to help out the administration at any school to handle this kind of problem more efficiently and effectively should be a top priority. Too often these days our teachers and principals have their hands tied as to what they can do to stop this type of problem.

Please pass this resolution. My son has been a victim of bullying during his 7th and 8th grade years. It has had a profound affect on his life which will never go away.

Eliminating bullying in our schools would have a huge impact on student learning, the development of self-esteem and the overall health of our children, both physically and mentally. I fully support legislation that would help us to achieve the end result of reducing and eventually fully eliminating bullying in our schools!

Please adopt the anti bullying resolution. It will help sent the right message to the community about support of public schools.

Great! It’s about time. A Democrat thought of this first?!!! Wonderful.

My son had an incident where he was choked by another student on the playground and the aide working didn’t even see it. When my ex-husband talked to the teacher about it she just blew if off like it was normal kid behavior. Very disturbing to a mother of a child that’s much smaller in size to all of his classmates. There is no need for this kind of behavior and it makes me wonder what the parents of these kids are teaching at home. If parents aren’t going to teach kids that’s it’s okay to beat up and pick on others then we must teach in the school that it is NOT okay and do more monitoring and impose strict consequences when kids harm other students or teachers for that matter. I am a secondary education major at the University of Utah and we rear articles in our education classes all the time about how it’s becoming the responsibility of the schools–teachers, staff and administration– to teach values, kindness and ethics to students because kids are not being taught it in the home. Anything I can do to support and push this resolution through I will. Have you gone to the schools and universities talking about this resolution?
January 27th, 2006 at 12:31 pm
Thank you for taking a stand for something that should have been a higher priority years ago. We need to have education and people in our schools trying to prevent and correct all forms of bullying. The emotional abuse and isolation is as damaging as the physical threats which are more often addressed. I strongly support this bill.

I strongly agree that if there were less “Bullies” in school, the children would be able to focus on their edcuation, rather than the politics of kids with no manners!
January 27th, 2006 at 12:47 pm
I strongly support the anti-bullying resolution.
January 27th, 2006 at 2:24 pm
I strongly support the anti-bullying resolution. Our Even Start Family Literacy Program teaches parenting classes that address how parents can deal with this issue. It would be great to have mandated anti-bullying education for students. I’ve looked into the “Don’t Laugh at Me” program and it is great!

I support this anti-bullying movement.
January 27th, 2006 at 3:34 pm
I strongly support the anti bullying resolution.

I think it is fabulous that we can do something to discourage children from being aggressive and mean at school. This is a daily problem. I don’t know if this would require more funding since there currently is no funding for recess monitors and so on, but it definitely is a concern.

I support the anti bullying resolution. We need to do more in our schools. I have helped organize/institute an Anti-Bullying Program at our elementary school. It would be great to get support at this level!
January 27th, 2006 at 4:32 pm
I strongly support the anti bullying resolution. This is the best time for young people to learn how to interact appropriately with others.
January 27th, 2006 at 4:46 pm
I strongly support the anti-bullying resolution. Our kids shouldn’t be afraid in an environment that is supposed to be safe. It only makes sense that it negatively affects all who are involved.
January 27th, 2006 at 4:46 pm
Bullying can impact the lives of all of the children who attend the school, not just those being bullied, but those who witness, hear about or are a part of the occurence. I think it is very important that we as parents, educators and caring human beings support this resolution, so our children can concentrate on the important things in life! I support this resolution 100%!
January 27th, 2006 at 5:24 pm
I strongly support the anti-bullying resolution. Our children deserve and need to be safe in school. What gives children the right to be mean to others? This must be stopped.
January 27th, 2006 at 7:43 pm
Every child deserves to feel safe! I support this bill.
January 27th, 2006 at 7:51 pm
I definately support an anti-bullying bill. My daughter has been bullied and it has had such a negetive effect on her self-esteem and outlook on going to school. She deserves as well as other children to feel safe in their school as well as a positive experience.

Congratulations Senator Arent for recognizing the need for this type of resolution! Holly Langton

Did Senator Arnt write this resolution? I understood others concerned on the topic did it. After listening about it on the radio I am confused. In any case I think it is a good thing.
January 27th, 2006 at 9:26 pm
I support this anti-bullying bill. Our schools have always been a microcosm for what our society practices are. Thank you for supporting and empowering those who work in education to more proactively approach this issue.

I support this anti-bullying bill.
January 28th, 2006 at 11:20 am

January 28th, 2006 at 11:58 am
Now this is a positive way to support our children! Thank you Senator Arent!
January 28th, 2006 at 12:28 pm
Thank you Sen. Arent. Anything we can do to eliminate violence in our society is a plus. Let’s start at the ground level.
January 28th, 2006 at 2:46 pm
Bullying takes so many forms that general respect should be taught in all grades, at all times. Allowing students to express how bullying has had an impact on their feelings, school success and feeling safe in their school would allow greater insight for educators and administration. Bringing parents into the mix would also allow us to educate the community as a whole into what forms bullying takes and how it can change a community for the better to help refocus a bully’s attentions and to help a victim stop being a victim.

Bullying has had a deep impact in my life as well as in the lives of many other I know. The opportunity to educate our children on appropriate social interactions and what positive measures to take when encountering problems is one that should not be missed. The quality of a childs education is directly impacted by their ability to
